Becoming Human: Turbulence - Humanity - Compassion
This is about opening our hearts to suffering and the journey toward compassion.
Shadow - Turbulence: This shadow is an emotional battle that is fought by every person at certain points in life. The shadow manifests as a collective emotional turbulence which exists because uncertainty exists and every human being knows that disaster can strike at any moment. There is no human life free of emotional turbulence. It’s ingrained deeply in our mythology. When emotional turbulence is resisted, it becomes nervousness. These are terrified of change and resist change at all costs. Unable to relax, these people send ripples of nervous waves into their environment, destabilizing the very things they are trying to keep calm. When the emotions are expressed without clarity (an inability to deal with the emotions honestly), it results in repetitive emotional situations. Emotional crisis is in effect drawn into this persons life like an ongoing soap opera.
Gift - Humanity: When we embrace our emotional struggles openly and honestly, we begin to understand what it is to be human. Our suffering opens our eyes to beyond self-obsession and forces us to evolve beyond our selfishness. The gift of humanity is for those who have grappled with their shadows and their emotions, accepted their own suffering, and have opened their hearts to it. When you live from your heart, there is the antidote to fear.
Siddhi - Compassion: As we learn that it is all about love, we understand that here it is compassionate love. Once we stop seeing suffering as negative, it stops being so. Suffering and compassion merge into one. Suffering becomes the muse as we move beyond the suffering and our hearts explode with the feelings of all human beings. This is well described in the Beatitudes, the words of Jesus in the sermon on the mount, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted…”
I Ching - Ming Yi - Brilliance Injured: The thirty-sixth gua of the I Ching is translated as brilliance injured. Some use the translation of darkening of the light. This gua is the inverse of the previous one (proceeding forward). By proceeding, one is taking a risk, even risking injury. When one’s brilliance is injured, they are forced to hold back, to heal. Then they can proceed further. There is truth in hiding our brilliance and biding our time during a difficult situation. Remaining steadfast before proceeding.
Questions for Contemplation: When do you find yourself resisting change? Read the Beatitudes. Does any line in particular resonate with you? Describe a time when you were able to embrace, or at least accept, an emotional struggle. How did it feel coming out on the other side of the suffering?
Share your contemplations on this 36th Gene Key. How or when does the shadow show up for you? What small shifts can you make in your awareness and your consciousness to move from shadow to gift? Has this shadow reappeared for you with additional challenges even after raising your vibration and moving forward?
